This post is going to be a brief overview on the most popular Dubstep software used to produce release-quality tracks of your own.

As the popularity of the genre expands like it has at a rapid rate, producers are seeking suitable programs to make create original music to mix into their own live sets and to sell online.

The cold truth of the matter is that producing music of this nature, is a relatively easy task and is done so with some inexpensive applications that can be operated on your computer alone, with no additional equipment.

Some of the most popular programs include Dubturbo, Ableton Live, Logic Studio and Propellerhead Reason. Which of these you engage depends on how much prior exposure you have had in music production.

Software 1: Dubturbo

We start here with this one as is has become the most popular digital sequencer available in recent times. Several factors make this so, as follows:

1. The easiest to use digital sequencer on the market, suitable for beginners with no experience in music production, to those on with intermediate skills.

2. Instantly download it from the official website and commence creating your original tracks immediately. No other software is accessible in this manner.

3. Compatible with Mac in addition to PC. Don’t worry about what operating system you are running.

4. High quality samples and sounds that are built in, make it a complete suite of music creation tools, no matter what electronic genre you hope to achieve.

5. Additional sounds and loops can be downloaded from the official website. Bear in mind that it is much cheaper to get all the add-ons when you download your original package.

Software 2: Logic Studio

Logic Studio is a professional grade program, that many of the big name DJs use for its wicked plug-ins and effects. However, the beat sequencer itself is difficult to use, so most program the beat and music elsewhere and then import the track to add the effects.

1. This is a complete studio program that is engaged by many recording studios as their primary platform. Great for recording all forms of live music.

2. The sequencer itself takes a long time to learn how to use, but when you do eventually get the hang of it, some great music is sure to follow.

3. Should be noted that this is a MAC only application and there is not a PC version available.

4. Standard plugins and effects are very capable and allow you to produce a wide variety of altered sounds on your tracks.

5. Furthermore, additional plugins can be added to the system, should the standard kit not suffice.

Software 3: Ableton Live

This used to be a very popular selection for Dubstep production, however it seems that other programs that are much cheaper have overridden its once popular status.

1. Powerful platform for a variety of electronic genres. Make grime, jungle, hip hop and some poppy songs all on the one program.

2. Samples and effects that come in the package are again, pretty special. This is one of the stronger points of the program.

3. Additional plugins can be installed, same as most of the suitable applications.

4. Some experience is highly recommended, as the interface is not very user-friendly. Though as we always tell people, when you do learn the ropes, Albeton is great as a production suite.

Software 4: Reason

Reason has to be one of the most underrated programs for producing digital music. Hundreds of dollars cheaper than the above program, though is just as, if not more capable.

1. Get Reason in an authentic boxed package, with disc to be installed with instruction guides etc, like the two others as listed above.

2. Again, much cheaper than Ableton and Logic, plus it is easier to use so you can get out there with your original tracks sooner.

3. The synths and samples that are in the package are probably the best out of any of the programs mentioned herein.

4. The mastering suite that is part of the original package is arguably more powerful that the others, which means it is all-in-one, and your finished product is literally radio-ready.

Please note that you really do need to choose something that you will actually be capable of using. The last thing you want to do is blow your money on something that is far beyond your abilities and end up giving the game away because of it.
